Fundraising for Palestine - Film night & Dinner Adelaide Bike Kitchen

Join us on Friday May 31st for a community dinner and film screening to raise awareness and funds to support ongoing efforts to stop the genocide in Palestine.

7.30pm dinner after ABK workshop, 8pm -9.30pm film screening

We will be asking $5 a plate for dinner

“From Under the Rubble” is a documentary about the 2009 bombing of Palestine by Israeli forces. Australian filmmakers Anne Tsoulis (Writer, Director & Producer) and John Moore (Producer) shed light on how civilians are impacted by war. In this age of instant global reporting, it is rare to hear from the most vulnerable of people – children. The events are narrated by child survivors of the Samouni family, and illustrated by animation of their drawings. This recount of the bombing in 2009 gives us a glimpse of the situation in Gaza now, and how the lives of Palestinian people are being torn apart. Digital Campaigning Training Online Event

On Tuesday 5 November, we are running an online Digital Campaigning Training. This training will cover the fundamentals of strong digital campaigning, including:

What is digital campaigning, what is it useful for, and how does it fit with in-person campaigning?
Digital campaigning tools, including a comparison of social media platforms
How to create impactful social media content
Messaging and narrative strategy
How to plan a digital campaign

This training will be facilitated by Sam, a writer and communicator. She is a white settler based in Naarm on unceded Boon Wurrung land. She believes in the power of the stories we all hold, and works with grassroots groups and organisations to tell their stories, communicate well, and create change.

Thanks to Sam’s generosity, this training is free and available to all grassroots volunteers working for freedom and liberation for all. In lieu of payment, attendees are encouraged to donate $5-$20 to mutual aid fundraisers (eg. https://www.instagram.com/p/DBLu0BBTXmC/) if they have the financial means to.

Accessibility:

This training will be via zoom. Zoom captioning will be available. A plain text document of the slides will be distributed at the start of the training.

Participants are encouraged to actively participate and have their video on, but are welcome to leave or take breaks anytime, and have their video off if necessary.

If you have questions about accessibility, or if your needs have not been met, please message us via our instagram (@freepalestineadl) to let us know how we can support your attendance at this training.

Tatreez Workshop (traditional Palestinian embroidery) with Samar Sammour Palestine Centre for Peace

AFOPA Fundraiser

“For centuries, Palestinian women have gathered together to work collectively on Tatreez (embroidery) projects, bonding over a cup of tea.

Learning the intricacies of Tatreez and teaching it to others is my personal journey in honouring the legacy of my ancestors and in bridging a connection to my roots as a Palestinian living in the diaspora.

Whether you are a Palestinian wanting to reconnect with your roots or you are someone simply interested in the art of Tatreez, and have never embroidered before, this is for you. No previous skill or experience is required. I can’t wait to meet you in this wholesome and inclusive space”.
