Clothes & Fabric Swap + Repair Workshop

    The Joinery

Sustainable Clothing Co. & The Adelaide Sustainability Centre Presents: Clothes & Fabric Swap + Repair Workshop: February 2025 Edition

Swapping your clothing promotes the reduction, reuse, and recycling of clothing!

This spring you are invited to the Sustainable Community Clothing Swap for February 2025, at The Joinery, 111 Franklin Street, Adelaide CBD; a community connected by a love for nature, sustainable living, and a desire to lead positive change.

You will also be able to participate in a repair workshop with two sessions on the day, running from 11:30am - 1:00pm and 1:30pm - 3:00pm (tickets to this workshop can be purchased alongside swap tickets)

NEVER BEEN TO A SWAP BEFORE? HERE'S HOW IT WORKS:

Simply gather a minimum of 5-10 pieces of clothing which are in good, wearable condition. The more you bring along the better, if you want to bring more than 10 items for swapping, please feel welcome to do so! Drop your donations into the Sustainable Clothing Co. store; 322 Grange Road, Kidman Park 5025, between Monday the 27th of January and Friday the 31st of January between 10am-5pm (322 Grange Road, Kidman Park, in the Thrift Hub) and we will take your items to the venue the morning of the event. If you can't make it in to our store, you are still welcome to bring your clothes in on the morning of the swap to The Joinery as well. On the day of the event (Saturday the 1st of February) come to The Joinery and pick up some new-to-you clothing! The number of items you bring in is the same number of items you can take home At the end of the swap, the majority of the remaining clothing will be donated onto supporting homelessness, ex-prisoners and women's shelters, along with Housing Choices SA (providing safe, secure and affordable rental housing) and the Anti Poverty Network (alliance of people affected and concerned by the effects of poverty and unemployment in Australia). Please note, the clothes swap is not a dumping ground for stained, ripped, unwearable clothing, instead ask us how we can recycle your damaged goods and consider bringing items to the swap that you would give to family and friends.

    TICKETING:

Get your pre-paid $5 tickets for either the swap, $7.50 for the repair workshop; both on here on Humanitix, you're also welcome to pay with cash or card at the door on the day.

Note: If you are attending the Repair Workshop, this ticket will include entry into the Swap (no additional Swap ticket will need to be purchased)

    REPAIR WORKSHOP:

In the repair workshop you can learn how to attach buttons, repair holes, darn, patch and hand-sew.

Bring along an item you love on the day which needs repairing, sewing materials provided.

Repairing items, does not include alterations - this requires a separate skill

    ACCEPTED ITEMS FOR SWAPPING:

Included items (both women's and men's):  Tops, t-shirts, pants, jackets, sweaters, dresses, skirts, shirts, blouses, crop tops, bralettes, leather, denim, knitwear, blazers, coats, shorts, bodysuits, play-suits, jumpsuits, vests, leggings, sportswear, hats, bags, purses, shoes, jewellery, scarves, and belts. Excluded Items: Underwear, socks, babies clothing and children’s wear.

    ENQUIRIES:

For all enquiries, please contact us via the Facebook Event Page or on Instagram @sustainableclothingco.

    FACILITIES:

Toilets are accessible on the ground floor of the building, and can also be used as change rooms.

Resident Café, "Proof of Pie" will be serving you some sweet & savoury pies + coffees on the day

    PARKING:

Street parking is available on Franklin Street and Morphett Street, and the nearest pay carparks can be found on Franklin Street, in the U-Park (entry via Andrew Street) and above the new Adelaide Bus Depot (entry on Grote Street).

Renew Australia for All - Climate Renewables Listening Tour

    The Joinery

Renew Australia for All is a new, people-powered coalition backed by unions, social services, First Nations, environment and climate organisations, multicultural organisations, clean industry, faith groups and local community groups. We are united in our belief that Australia must act faster, and guarantee fairness, if we are to reap the benefits of the global shift to a clean economy in our homes, workplaces, and communities. It's why we're seeking a historic climate solutions package from the Federal government.

Renew Australia for All will host an Adelaide ‘listening tour' event to gather the views and perspectives of people experiencing climate and energy challenges first hand and local knowledge about climate solutions in your community. We will share the outcomes and findings with national decision makers in Canberra and elsewhere.

If you have any questions in the meantime, please get in touch with Leigh Ewbank via website link (Solutions for Climate - CANA):
