Fundraiser for Rising Tide - plus a really fun night of dancing, socialising, music, community

In collaboration with the Australian Conservation Foundation (ACF) comes the Climate-Conscious Scavenger Hunt in Tarndanya/Adelaide!

FREE COMMUNITY EVENT - SPACES ARE LIMITED

Discover the Adelaide CBD through a green lens. The hunt includes a variety of fun, interactive challenges, allowing you to observe biodiversity, find green initiatives, and propose areas for improvement on how we can better embrace and collaborate with nature in our beautiful city.

We will meet at the Adelaide Riverbank Lawns at 2pm, have a brief introduction and welcome circle before splitting off into groups and beginning the challenge. Please aim to arrive 10 minutes early so we have optimal scavenging time!

The hunt aspect is purely to discover the wonders of the beautiful land in Tardanya/Adelaide, you will be asked to take some photos, but please do not touch or interact with plants or wildlife that you may encounter along the experience.

Come along to meet new people, find out how you can be more active in the community, and come away with a strengthened love for the environment.

Psst, yes, there’ll be a prize for the team with the most points but everyone gets a little something to say thank you for coming!

Resilient by Nature: Creating Climate-Resilient Native Habitats

Green Adelaide will help you discover how to create a thriving habitat for Adelaide’s native wildlife right in your own backyard!

This hands-on workshop introduces the key principles of wildlife friendly gardening, helping you discover which local animals are in your area, what they need to thrive, and how to design a space that supports them.

By choosing native plants and a smart design, you aren’t just helping local wildlife - you’re building climate resilience right where you live. Native habitats cope better with harsh summers, use less water, and provide vital cooling islands for local fauna. It’s a win-win for you and nature!

You’ll also get the chance to get your hands dirty! Participants will have the opportunity to plant local species in The Precinct’s garden, gaining practical, real-world planting skills.

What we’ll cover:

An introduction to Adelaide’s native flora and why it matters.

How to identify and protect the wildlife already visiting you.

Practical tips for a nature-rich, climate resilient garden.

Tips about nest boxes and other habitat features.

Simple ways to get started and make an immediate impact.

Come along, get inspired, and transform your backyard into a thriving, resilient haven for local wildlife!

Plus, all participants will take home their own native plant to kickstart their backyard habitat.

Afternoon tea provided.

Giving circles are all about people getting together to fund the change they want to see.

These groups of people gather regularly across South Australia and have their own ways of giving money away.

This special event brings two together to pool resources and put money into ideas, projects and communities who are ready to make a difference. For Adelaide Climate Action Week (ACAW), this means we want to know what you’d like to do to act on climate.

Maybe your climate impact idea or project will be awarded a gift of $1000. If you want to apply for funding, answer the relevant questions when you book your ticket.

Whatever your idea might be about, make sure it’s giving climate ;-)

We are launching with a total of $4000 thanks to the Awesome Foundation Adelaide and Humankind’s Ripple Effect (that’s 4 grants of $1000 each to start). The invitation is open to others to grow the pot (get in touch with Matthew via adelaide@awesomefoundation.org).

The giving circles involved (details below) have ways of deciding where our funds go. We will choose from the list of applications before the big day and on the morning of the event you will be able to learn about what we funded, or maybe even hear from those we fund (or shortlist).

In addition to the funds the giving circles are contributing, we are inviting people to come to the event and chip in. You will see when you book your FREE ticket that we are asking for contributions – these will all go toward an additional ‘people’s choice’ grant. Join us at the Flinders Park Community Garden for a hands on gardening experience. Our community garden is a free space where anyone can pick what they need, and meet their local community in a friendly relaxed atmosphere.

This workshop will be presented by Drew Kilner from Walking Together with Kaurna, alongside Steven Hoepfner from the City of Charles Sturt.

Drew will teach us about traditional plants and their uses, health benefits and how they tie in with stories and culture. Together we will plant a brand new bush tucker garden for our community to enjoy.

Join ThincLab and the Innovation & Collaboration Centre at Adelaide University for a relaxed morning tea with a purpose, as part of Adelaide Climate Action Week.

We’ll be unveiling the South Australia Climate Action Map — a living, growing picture of who’s doing what on climate across our state, from energy and transport to waste, agriculture, and adaptation. Over good food and good company, you’ll get to explore what’s already happening in South Australia, add anything we’ve missed, and stick up one thing you’re doing (or planning to do) for the climate.

No expertise required, no pressure, just tea, coffee, conversation, and a chance to be part of building something the whole community can use. Open to the public, students, industry, community groups, and anyone curious about climate action in SA.

The Emerging Leaders Expo is the flagship event for youth at Adelaide Climate Action Week. By young people, for young people.

Young South Australians aged 16-25 are doing serious climate work right now, in classrooms, communities, labs, art studios and on Country. Too often that work goes unseen and unconnected. The Expo exists to change that.

Whether you’re already deep in the climate space or just starting to find your way in, if you’re a young person engaged in or curious about climate action, this evening is for you. Climate action looks different across every community, industry and creative practice and all of it belongs in this room.

What to expect:

A space lined with posters showcasing climate projects led by young South Australians

Real conversations with the people behind the work

Networking games and a collective zine-making table

Mentors from across the climate sector ready to talk about your work, your ideas and what comes next, whether that’s a new collaborator, a pathway into the sector, or simply knowing you’re not doing this alone.

The format prioritises lateral connection over hierarchy. There is no main stage and no keynote. No polished pitch required.

The exhibited posters will be captured in a permanent digital archive on the ACAW website, giving visibility to the incredible work already being done by young people across this state.

Want to share your climate work, project or passion area? Submit an EOI to be part of the poster exhibition by selecting the Exhibit a poster EOI ticket type.

Your poster can be about you and the climate work you’re doing, or about one specific project you’ve built, run, researched or made. This is about using your poster to inspire, teach and engage with peers who share your passion, and to catalyse more connections, projects and energy on climate action. Posters do not have to be fancy! They are a reference for discussion.

In the lead up to the Emerging Leaders Expo we will be providing support for those making posters including examples and an in person poster making a working bee, as well as being available to chat and answer any of your questions.

At the Emerging Leaders Expo there will be a designated period of time for those who have submitted posters to stand beside their poster and chat about their work as guests move through the space.

An interactive workshop with community as part of co creating SA’s statewide climate movement strategy Join us for the very first co creation workshop to help shape the South Australia’s statewide climate and environment movement strategy.

This open workshop invites everyone involved in—or passionate about— nature, biodiversity and climate to connect, collaborate and create a shared vision for a stronger movement.

Why a statewide movement strategy?

The co created statewide movement strategy brings together a diverse cohort of community members, grassroots groups, campaigners, volunteers, advocates, and organisations to create a shared vision and plan for our movement.

Through this process we

build connections and partnerships

identify our movement’s strengths and needs

define our shared priorities and goals

develop a clear, practical plan on how to achieve this together

We’ve only just started and have already had one on one conversations with over 20 community organisers, campaigners, leaders, co-design experts, strategists, and movement builders to devise the plan for this co creation process.

An algal bloom has been devastating our sea and land kin across the southern coastline. We invite everyone to play a part in carrying A message stick from Warland Reserve in Victor Harbor to Amelia Park Playground in Goolwa to let our kin know that we hear them.

Join Cedric Varcoe, Local Ramindjeri Cultural Leader, and Aunty Angelena Harradine Buckskin, proud Cultural Woman of the Ngadjuri, Kaurna, Narungga and Ngarrindjeri Nations, on this healing journey across Ramindjeri and Ngarrindjeri land to honour land and sea country together.

The global polycrisis, biodiversity loss, environmental degradation and government inaction on climate change creates some feelings.

Climate Cafe’s are a place we can share those feelings with others and know we aren’t alone.

At our Café there is no guest speaker, no advice given, no call for action. 

Instead, you’ll find a supportive, facilitated conversational space for people to gather and share thoughts and feelings in response to the climate crisis. Here you can voice concerns that may not be welcomed or echoed elsewhere in your daily life. You’re invited to share with interested others how you’re really feeling at this challenging time. 

There may be laughter, there may be tears. There may be fear, there may be anger. Whatever you’re feeling is okay and valued. And it’s fine just to listen. Sharing, listening and being quiet together are all part of our Café.

Your presence matters most, and you’ll be warmly welcomed.

We want everybody to be able to access the support they need, so tickets to our Climate Cafes are offered by donation.

$20 is a standard starting place for a standard ticket to similar intiatives, have a think about what feels accessible for you - if that’s 0$ or $5 that is okay - it’s tough out here! 

Generous donations are welcome if you are able - it’s through donations from people like you that we are able to continue this work.

Tyler Key

Tyler is the lead custodian/convenor (or cheeky evolutionary operator) of Regen Places Network. A national network of communities regenerating their places. At the core of Tyler’s work has always supporting others to get where they want to go, when they might not get there alone. He does this by creating the conditions for people to connect with care, create shifts in perspective and develop their capacity and capability see the potential of our living world. His aim is that we collectively enable the regeneration of each other, our communities and our Mother Earth - with no being left behind

Hayley Moffiet, CPA

Hayley is a strategic advisor, systems thinker, and a convener in Regen Places Network, a community of changemakers reimagining place-based regeneration. She is also the founder of Haylo Consulting, a practice dedicated to guiding organisations and initiatives at the intersection of sustainability, social impact, and regenerative design & development. With a background in strategy, data and insights, circular economy, project delivery and purpose-led innovation, Hayley brings grounded wisdom and heartfelt leadership to complex challenges. Her work supports communities, enterprises, and ecosystems to thrive in harmony with people and our planet.

Join our webinar: Rooftop solar and battery negotiated for houses in Point Pearce Aboriginal community

First Nations, industry and government are invited to an inspiring webinar showcasing what’s possible when First Nations communities lead their own energy future.

The Point Pearce Aboriginal Community in South Australia has successfully negotiated a rooftop solar and battery solution for households in their community and they want to share how they did it.

Led by Narungga man and Network PowerMaker Eddie Newchurch, Point Pearce Aboriginal Corporation worked with local electricity retailer AGL to develop a plan for installing 6 - 7 kilowatts of rooftop solar and a 10-kilowatt-hour battery to around 40 households by mid-2026.

The result? Once installed, more affordable energy bills, with estimated electricity cost savings of $1,000 - $2,000 per household per year.

Join us for the 2026 Bio·R Planting Festival at Frahns Farm, as we work together to reconstruct habitat for biodiversity!

We are continuing this year’s festival with two big weekends at Frahns Farm. Our goal over these four days is to plant 32,000 native seedlings, creating vital habitat for wildlife.

Bio·R is a South Australian grassroots charity dedicated to reconstructing habitats for native wildlife. Our ambitious long-term goal is to reconstruct 100 hectares per year by 2032, and 1000 hectares per year by 2045.

To manage catering and eliminate food waste, your ticket covers tea, coffee, water, a delicious vegetarian lunch, and afternoon tea.

Action Network For everyone everywhere interested in Extinction Rebellion this talk, ‘Heading for Extinction (and what to do about it)’ is your entry point. We are facing climate and ecological catastrophe, and time is running out. Our political system is broken and our leaders are failing to protect us.

Find out about Extinction Rebellion, an international movement using non-violent mass civil disobedience as a tried and tested way to force governments to take the action that is needed.

‘Heading for Extinction and what to do about it’ generally precedes the Non-Violent Direct Action (NVDA)/Civil Disobedience training. This introductory talk and NVDA training will help you get involved with the XR movement. We also run regular online orientation/Q&A space for new rebels, which introduces you to Extinction Rebellion, how it works, what its aims, principles and values are, and how you can get involved. NVDA training is an introduction for those who want to participate in mass actions and you can also take part in more specific action skills trainings.

Join us for the 2026 Bio·R Planting Festival at Frahns Farm, as we work together to reconstruct habitat for biodiversity!

We are continuing this year’s festival with two big weekends at Frahns Farm. Our goal over these four days is to plant 32,000 native seedlings, creating vital habitat for wildlife.

Bio·R is a South Australian grassroots charity dedicated to reconstructing habitats for native wildlife. Our ambitious long-term goal is to reconstruct 100 hectares per year by 2032, and 1000 hectares per year by 2045.

To manage catering and eliminate food waste, your ticket covers tea, coffee, water, a delicious vegetarian lunch, and afternoon tea.

Coffee Outside is an international movement that started around a decade ago in California with the aim of bringing the cycling community together to talk bikes, coffee and adventure. Since then, it has spread around the globe, and in 2025, reached Adelaide! The premise is simple. Bring yourself, your bike, and a beverage of choice to the designated meeting spot at the designated time. Hang out with other people and their bikes and drink said beverages together. That’s it. Coffee’s in the name and we encourage people to go nuts. Want to bring your camp stove, grinder and moka pot and make everything there? How about hot water and an aeropress? Instant coffee? A thermos of batch you made at home? Tea? Fruit juice? Whatever it is, we don’t care, so long as you like it. We look forwards to sharing in this new event with you and hope to see you there!

You’ve just been handed the top job on Earth. Your mandate: keep global warming within the Paris Agreement’s 1.5 - 2°C, protect nature, keep the economy strong, and make sure the transition is fair to everyone. No pressure.

In this hands-on workshop, you’ll take the controls of En-ROADS: the world-renowned climate simulator built by MIT Sloan and Climate Interactive, used by governments, business leaders, and negotiators around the world. Pull the real levers of change: energy prices, renewables, transport, buildings, land use, population, economic growth, and watch the global temperature respond in real time.

Working in small teams, you’ll debate trade-offs, test your instincts against hard system dynamics, and discover which solutions actually move the needle, and which popular ideas barely shift the dial. Expect some surprises. Almost everyone’s first plan misses the mark, and that’s exactly where the learning starts.

Come ready to argue, experiment, and think like a planetary leader. You’ll leave with a genuine understanding of what it takes to solve climate change, and a sense of what’s truly possible.

No science background needed — just curiosity and a willingness to make some big decisions.

Agenda 1 The mission: You are now the CEO of Earth. You need to manage four goals: climate, nature, economy, and social justice.

2 Meet the simulator Live demo of En-ROADS. See how it responds and establish the baseline: where we’re heading under current policy, what you can do, and how you can see what was impacted.

3 Team huddle Groups of 3–5 form. Before touching the sim, each team debates and sketches a strategy on paper: what will they prioritise, and what will they trade off?

4 Take the controls Teams access the simulation and build their plan, testing levers against the four goals.

5 Report back Each team shares their headline result again one or more of the four goals e.g. final temperature, the economy, nature and social justice as well as one surprising thing they learned.

6 Debrief What actually worked, common traps, and how this maps to real-world action. Closing: what are we taking away?
