Santos We are Watching You Leak & Sneak 60 Flinders St Adelaide

LEAKY & SNEAKY : Santos has been caught red-handed using a giant gas tank which has been leaking at least 184 kg of methane per hour for around 20 years at the Darwin Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Plant.

The NT Environment Protection Authority (NTEPA) approved the tank in 2020 : the leak was reported just hours later while Santos was buying the tank. NTEPA Chair is Paul Vogel: on ABC on Sept 3rd he described the methane emissions from the leak as “insignificant” and the fire risk as “low or negligible”. He DIDN’T say that he’s a paid lobbyist for an organisation that works for gas industry clients. Santos kept quiet & continued to use the leaky tank with no penalty or requirement to fix it. Santos is aiming for massive profits from its Barossa gas field – with its extensive undersea piping north of Australia … What could possibly go wrong? And the results – more carbon emissions heating the atmosphere and endangering life, livelihoods and health across the globe.

Come along for coffee or lunch nearby.

Seas are Rising: End Fossil Fuels (SA action) Stamford Grand Adelaide

The poles are melting. The seas are rising. The toxic algal bloom is devastating our coastline. Pacific Island countries are at dire risk. We need to end fossil fuels now.

We call on people from all walks of life to join us - for the love of our children & grandchildren, for the love of humanity and for the love of our beautiful planet 🌏

The Red Rebels will lead a powerful silent procession along the promenade and beach, accompanied by solemn drums and singing.

The Red Rebels represent the common blood we share with all species. Through dramatic mime, they evoke emotional responses to the prospect of environmental collapse.

Join us as we turn climate grief into action and come together to demand a liveable climate.

Please RSVP via the Action Network link to receive updates and to assist with planning: https://actionnetwork.org/events/seas-are-rising-end-fossil-fuels-sa-action

DUMP SANTOS RALLY

This rally will be outside of the Opening Ceremony of the Tour Down Under! Meet at the northern point of Victoria Square.

Gas is a dirty fossil fuel and one of the biggest drivers of the climate crisis. Santos is a giant gas company with plans for THREE massive new gas projects.

Santos is able to push ahead with these plans by wielding immense political influence in South Australia. We must break our politics free of Santos.

The Tour Down Under is a world-famous cycling race, sponsored by Santos. We are proud that South Australia hosts the Tour Down Under, celebrating cycling, community, and sustainable transport!

We are deeply disappointed that Santos, a major fossil fuel company, holds the naming rights to such an event. The age of fossil fuel sponsorships is behind us! It’s time for our local events to reflect the clean, sustainable future we’re working towards.

Stop Santos Gas Rally! Adelaide Convention Centre

The giant gas company Santos has their Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Adelaide. Executives, shareholders, and the media will all be there.

Traditional Owners impacted by Santos plans are travelling to Adelaide, to speak at the Santos AGM. We’re organising a rally outside the AGM in solidarity!

Santos has plans for climate-cooking gas expansions in Narrabri in north-west New South Wales, and in the Beetaloo Basin in central Northern Territory.

The Narrabri project has been resisted by Gomeroi people for a decade. Garrawa people are concerned that fracking in the Beetaloo could impact precious songlines.

The media will be at the AGM. Join this rally and ensure everyone can see that the community stands with Traditional Owners battling Santos.
