Protect Protest Rally & March
– Parliament House
Join us at Parliament House on Thursday 16th May as we launch a campaign to repeal the undemocratic SA anti-protest laws on the first anniversary of their introduction. Passed by the South Australian Parliament in just 20 minutes, and without consultation, these laws escalated penalties in the Summary Offences Act for obstructing public places from $750 to $50,000 (or 3 months) imprisonment. These new laws are part of a concerning trend nationwide of introducing legislation to repress protest. They broaden the scope of offences that police can use and further criminalise peaceful community activism. Protests and social movements have delivered our civil and political rights. Tolerance of dissent and even civil disobedience are hallmarks of a strong democracy. History has vindicated many acts of disobedience, including ‘Votes for Women’, the global suffrage movement; American Civil Rights Movement; Builder’s Labourers Federation Green Bans; and Vietnam Moratorium marches that blocked Adelaide intersections. With implied threats of extreme fines and jail time, the new laws have had a chilling and repressive effect on protest. This often disproportionately impacts those with marginalised identities, who so often have played a key role in bringing about social change. The South Australian community deserves laws that are the result of deliberation and consultation, not policy on the run, so we’re calling on the SA Parliament to go back to drawing board and reconsider them. Rally to Save the Cranker
– Tandarnyangga (So called Victoria Square)
Did you know that Adelaide is a designated UNESCO City of Music? And that the Crown and Anchor Hotel is one of Adelaide’s oldest, most vibrant and loved living cultural icons. The Cranker, as it is affectionately known, is the latest in a long line of live music venues at risk of shutting down - with developers trying to turn this much-loved pub into short-term student accommodation, putting profits ahead of community. To put it clearly, shutting down the Cranker will be devastating for the future of South Australia’s live music scene and our homegrown artists. That is why South Australians have been coming together to fight to save the Cranker. This Sunday, 1 pm Tarntanyangga / Victoria Square, the South Australian community is rallying to save the Cranker. |

Rally to Keep Abortion Legal
– Parliament House
Check out our offical poster for the rally! Think it’s cool? We do! Want one? Let us know! Happily emailing and sharing the photos so if you want to put up one in your Workplace, School, Uni or even your local gym please let us know! We are less than 12 days away from our rally! We need you, not just your support but your action. Get involved, fight for something that you care about, push to make our country a better and safer place not only for Women but for every Australian. See you on Saturday Nov 1st ! South Australia decriminalised abortion in 2022 and is a fundamental right to the freedom of choice. Now, less than a year after similar legislation was defeated, a new bill threatens to roll back our rights. It would ban terminations after 23 weeks-even in cases of mental health crisis—unless the mother’s life is at risk or there are severe fetal abnormalities. As seen in the United States, these rollbacks on Abortion rights is and will be a slippery slope. Stand your ground and fight for your rights, let them hear you. This is not about protecting life. This is about controlling it. It’s about controlling you. We stand for: Bodily autonomy Compassionate healthcare Evidence-based policy Respect for complex, personal decisions Join us on the steps of Parliament House to say: Our bodies, our choices. |
