On Tuesday 5 November, we are running an online Digital Campaigning Training. This training will cover the fundamentals of strong digital campaigning, including:

What is digital campaigning, what is it useful for, and how does it fit with in-person campaigning?
Digital campaigning tools, including a comparison of social media platforms
How to create impactful social media content 
Messaging and narrative strategy 
How to plan a digital campaign

This training will be facilitated by Sam, a writer and communicator. She is a white settler based in Naarm on unceded Boon Wurrung land. She believes in the power of the stories we all hold, and works with grassroots groups and organisations to tell their stories, communicate well, and create change.

Thanks to Sam’s generosity, this training is free and available to all grassroots volunteers working for freedom and liberation for all. In lieu of payment, attendees are encouraged to donate $5-$20 to mutual aid fundraisers (eg. https://www.instagram.com/p/DBLu0BBTXmC/) if they have the financial means to.

This training will be via zoom. Zoom captioning will be available. A plain text document of the slides will be distributed at the start of the training.

Participants are encouraged to actively participate and have their video on, but are welcome to leave or take breaks anytime, and have their video off if necessary.

Action Network For everyone everywhere interested in Extinction Rebellion this talk, ‘Heading for Extinction (and what to do about it)’ is your entry point. We are facing climate and ecological catastrophe, and time is running out. Our political system is broken and our leaders are failing to protect us.

Find out about Extinction Rebellion, an international movement using non-violent mass civil disobedience as a tried and tested way to force governments to take the action that is needed.

‘Heading for Extinction and what to do about it’ generally precedes the Non-Violent Direct Action (NVDA)/Civil Disobedience training. This introductory talk and NVDA training will help you get involved with the XR movement. We also run regular online orientation/Q&A space for new rebels, which introduces you to Extinction Rebellion, how it works, what its aims, principles and values are, and how you can get involved. NVDA training is an introduction for those who want to participate in mass actions and you can also take part in more specific action skills trainings.

‘Heading for Extinction and what to do about it’ provides an up-to-date and honest picture of what is causing the climate emergency, and what needs to happen, urgently, to prevent the worst of climate disasters. There are opportunities for questions and discussion.

MARSHAL + POLICE LIAISON TRAINING 🦺

These roles are part of the action support infrastructure (as well as Legal Observers, First Aid, etc.) that help keep events as safe as possible.

Many people care deeply about protecting our Park Lands and public spaces but feel uncertain about getting involved because they don’t understand their rights, responsibilities, or the legal framework surrounding peaceful protest. This training has been created to help people feel informed, confident, and empowered when participating in peaceful, non-violent community action. You may have seen the latest polling showing growing support for Pauline Hanson and One Nation, including a recent poll that placed Hanson ahead as preferred Prime Minister.

We know One Nation uses racism to fuel division in our communities, while doing nothing for everyday people. Hanson consistently votes against improving workers’ rights, raising the rate of job seeker and making housing more affordable. Many of us are worried about what their growing support could mean for First Nations justice, workers’ rights, multicultural communities and the future of this country.
