Folk 'N Words Volume 6

Thrilled to announce the sixth volume of Folk ‘N Words: an evening celebrating poetry and folk music! Join us at the Grace Emily Hotel on Wednesday, November 27th for another fantastic display of Kaurna Land-based spoken word performers and musicians, curated by Maximilian Levy.

Featuring poetry from: Maximilian Levy, Elston Kulbach, Spencer Byrne, Tash Loh, Drew Cuffley, and Danah Slade

And music by: Lucy Zola Ned Baulderstone My Chérie

Scramble Slam 2024 (Poetry Slam Night)
The Jade

'Scramble Slam' is a fun, low-stakes poetry slam competition. Combining the powers of Soul Lounge and Mixed Bag Adelaide, the 'Scramble Slam' will be an enjoyable night out to network and connect with poets from all over Adelaide. Hosted by the amazing Stephanie Mylan and Ari, and featuring the wonderful Mei Szetu, you don't want to miss out!!!! We will also be blessed by the amazing talents of Gian Angelo Gabutina

Now this Slam is a little different, see, the poets will perform individually however, they have actually been secretly assigned teams and the overall winners will be the combined scores of those selected poets! So you will never know who will take the prize!!!!!!

Your favourite spoken word event, Draw your (S)words is back, and this time, we’re swapping the stage for the yard. Join us on Friday December 6th, from 6 PM to 10 PM for another intimate evening of poetry, connection, and community. Switching up the vibe in a cozy backyard setting in Ascot Park. (Exact location will be shared with ticket purchase—it's all part of the charm!) This isn’t just another poetry night—it’s something special, a gathering of DYS fam, sharing stories, laughter, and connection as we wrap up the year. Bring your mates, your dates, or just yourself and soak in the beauty of a night that celebrates connection and creativity at a time when we need it most.

We’re thrilled to welcome the electrifying musician Jack Green (he/him) and the soul-stirring Nadia Patterson (they/he) to our mic. Their words will move you, inspire you, and leave you basking in the glow of their creativity.

Soul Spit Launch Night - Poetry for People of Colour

If you're a Person of colour please come down and check this event, there will be an open mic section, feel free to speak, sing it if the spirit calls, say what's in your heart, in your notes, on your mind, spit out what's from your soul.

We've got some super amazing features, I'm so excited to have Jihad down here who is so uplifting and wholesome and writes some great poems that will leave you feeling goosebumps till the end of the night. We've also got Stella, who's publishing her second book and somehow she's barely a featured artists within our spoken word poetry community which I find to be such a robbery. We will also be featuring some of Alyssa's textile artwork and a special surprise performance which will be announced shortly 🙊

Anyhow this event will be held on unceded Kaurna Country, at Ayla's Cafe
