Unleash your creativity in a hands-on art workshop led by Nikki Carabetta from Mawurdu Gaga Arts, a proud Aboriginal artist whose unique journey from the bush to the city shapes her vibrant work today.

In this workshop, Nikki will guide you to weave your own bangle, while sharing stories and insights from her life and creative practice.

Children must be accompanied by an adult, each participant requires a booking.

Warriparinga Weaving Workshop Living Kaurna Cultural Centre - Function Room

Come along and learn traditional weaving techniques using contemporary materials with First Nations Boandik artists and weavers Sonya, Suzy and Sarah Smith.

Have a yarn and find out how to get involved in the state wide community engaged Kingston Weaving project.

Focusing on the cultural representation of animal totems in connection to the local environment, Kingston Weaving will see the creation of a large-scale sculpture of cultural and enduring significance in Kingston, Southeast, South Australia as part of the Nature Festival in 2026.

We invite you to get involved in this ongoing series of workshops and be part of this extraordinary project as it begins to take shape.

Weaving jewellery workshop with Natasha Wanganeen Adelaide Contemporary Experimental (ACE)

In this workshop weaver, activist and actress Natasha Wanganeen (Kaurna, Narungga, Ngarrindjeri, Noongar) will teach traditional and contemporary weaving techniques to make your own woven jewellery piece.

Contemporary art practices have helped sustain the continuation of Ngarrindjeri weaving. Highlighted in Kumarangk, multiple weaving techniques are honoured using different materials across generations of Ngarrindjeri women. Natasha will be teaching you these techniques using multi-coloured raffia to make your pieces.

Weaving Made Simple – Whale Tail Workshop Victor Harbor Visitor Centre

Join 3rd generation Boandik descendant Berni for a hands-on weaving workshop celebrating culture, storytelling and connection to Country.

In this beginner-friendly session, participants will learn simple weaving techniques while creating their own whale tail artwork using natural and contemporary materials. Along the way, Berni shares insights into weaving traditions and the evolving expression of contemporary Indigenous art.

This workshop offers a relaxed and welcoming space to slow down, connect creatively and learn through lived cultural knowledge.
