Zine-Making as a (Radical) Research Method Workshop Online

Zine-Making as a (Radical) Research Method

What does it mean to ‘research otherwise’, and what can it offer? What radical possibilities emerge when we take zine-making seriously as a method of academic inquiry?

Zine-making as a radical method for qualitative research invites us to gather, question, and imagine beyond conventional frameworks. We will explore how this creative practice can open new ways of knowing, feeling, sharing, and relating in research. The session will also include a practical component, where participants will begin crafting their own ‘research zine’.

Friday 23 May 10am – 11:30am UK time (6:30pm Adelaide)

Zine Launch | Supporting Neurodivergent Comics Creators Hawke Building at UniSA City West Campus

At this launch, the research team and artist, Michelle Chan, will share their insights into the research, development, and creation of their zine, ‘Supporting Neurodivergent Comic Artists.’

This zine was created as part of a research project, ‘Supporting Neurodivergent Comics Creators’, funded by the Global Arts and Health Alliance via the University of South Australia, University of Adelaide and Flinders University. Researchers from these universities collaborated to understand the needs and experiences of neurodivergent comics creators in Adelaide. This zine visually represents the lived experience of the research project participants in their comics creation journey.

A space adjacent to Bradley Forum will be provided for anyone seeking a quiet place.
