Walk to Work Day
From Home

Now in its 26th year, Walk to Work Day is being held on Friday 6 September 2024. The annual event encourages employees and employers to build regular walking into their daily routines.

Walk to Work Day promotes regular walking as a healthy activity. With millions of Australians living with all types of diabetes or at risk of type 2 diabetes there has never been a better time to get walking and start on the path to a healthier workplace and a healthier you.

It's easy to get involved!

Just follow these 2 simple steps to support the campaign:

Get walking! Walk as much as you can on Walk to Work Day โ€“ Friday 6 September 2024.
If you can't walk all the way, use public transport and get off the bus, train, tram or ferry a few stops earlier and walk the rest of the way to work or take a half-hour walk at lunchtime.
Walk in a group or individually โ€“ all walking helps support this important message.
Spread the word! Ask your family, friends and work colleagues to do the same.

Kidical Mass Adelaide Demonstration 2024 - Ride the streets
Whitmore Square

The Kidical Mass movement is global!

Join thousands of children and their families worldwide in taking over their city streets to claim their right to ride safely.

"Kidical Mass is more than just a protest; it gives children a voice, creating a positive vision for the future, connecting the young and old across the cycling community".

Organising partners Middle Ground Motherhood, Bike Adelaide and Parents for Climate, with support from Bike SA and the Commissioner for Children and Young People, invite you to our local event on Sunday, 22 September 2024 at 10 am, beginning and ending at Whitmore Square/Iparrityi, Adelaide.

Our third annual event is set to be our biggest ever!

Our campaign asks for decision-makers to:

(1) Enable and activate bike riding joy

(2) Create comfortable, convenient and connected bike-riding routes and healthy streets

(3) Support children's wellbeing and health through bike riding (and walking/wheeling) to school.

Our top three priorities for action include:

๐Ÿšดโ€โ™€๏ธ #30Please A safer speed on our streets is 30 km/h ๐Ÿšด #SafeStreetstoSchool Prioritise active transport around schools ๐Ÿšด #EBikeSubsidies Make it cheaper to choose electric bikes.

We will publish our demonstration day statement closer to the event.

Greater Adelaide Regional Plan - Consultation closing
Desk

The State Planning Commission (the Commission) has released the Greater Adelaide Regional Plan (the Plan) and want to hear from community, councils and industry on how we sustainably prepare for future growth.

The Plan set outs a long-term vision for Greater Adelaide, detailing where people will live and work, how they will move around and where they will access services. It provides data and recommendations for managing growth and adapting to changes in our community and urban environment.

Submission: You can fill their form or can be as simple as emailing them whatever you want to say. Emailing a submission to plansasubmissions@sa.gov.au with the subject line: Submission: Greater Regional Adelaide Plan

Desk Action added by SAGE

Here is the SAGE submission from the last round in November 2023. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1KL04Xr77WIdicq58ozY5Q4pb-G97R7Vzrrh9EZNe4N4/edit?tab=t.0

Seems they've ignored a lot including ignoring requests to have more rail and walkable cities. Requests to ensure that rails and trams are foregrounded in the plans is very valuable.

Also requesting that young people are seeking affordable multi-story living within a short (20min) commute of the city

(Dont say "15 min cities", its a right-wing trigger word now)
