For those who couldn’t make it, we held a discussion on the SA Government’s proposed changes to youth bail laws.</p> <p>These proposed reforms represent a dangerous escalation of carceral policy. They are predicated on a falsely constructed youth crime crisis narrative (despite youth crime consistently declining over the past ten years). These changes are not about safety - they are about control, punishment, and expanding state power over the lives of marginalised young people, especially Aboriginal children and those already failed by health, housing, education, and disability systems.</p> <p>The government is currently accepting public feedback on these changes.
