    CANA Annual Strategy Meeting

    In this critical post-election moment, CANA’s Annual Strategy Meeting in Triabunna will unite 200 climate advocates from 172 member groups to forge a three-year roadmap for winning a fossil fuel phase-out and advancing climate justice through strategic collaboration. It will feature a member-led workshop based agenda and space for culture, music and nature.

    Please note: Ticket sales have been extended, but due to the venue’s scheduling we can no longer guarantee that irregular dietaries beyond standard options (vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, halal, etc) can be catered for.

    All ticket prices include lunches, dinners and access to the entire 3 day event. No discounts can be given for partial attendance.

    Venue

    The CANA ASM will be held in Triabunna on Palawa lands, at the Spring Bay Mill waterfront site on the east coast of Lutruwita (Tasmania), once home to the world’s largest wood chip mill. It is now a gathering place for collaborating, strategising, celebrating and sea and star-gazing.

    What does my ticket include?

    Each ticket includes participation in the full program including the workshops, cultural elements, evening networking and all meals at the award winning Spring Bay Mill venue and sustainable kitchen.

    You’ll have the opportunity to collaborate with 200 other climate campaigners, strategists and experts to develop a three year roadmap for winning a fossil fuel phase-out and advancing climate justice.

    The following meals will be provided:

    Tuesday: Lunch and dinner.

    Wednesday: Morning tea, lunch and dinner.

    Thursday: Morning tea and lunch.

    Throughout the day fruit, tea, coffee and water will also be available.

    Who will be there?

    The CANA Annual Strategy Meeting will be open to all CANA members and some allies, with attendance capped at 200 participants to maintain focus and impact. 

    We hope to gather 200 network leaders including grassroots campaigners, policy experts collaborators, trailblazers, visionaries, CEOs, volunteers and key strategists from our 172 member groups. We’ll invite key members and allies from First Nations, Pacific, union, youth, feminist, multicultural, feminist, gender diverse and disability constituencies, plus key funders. 

    Due to limited venue capacity and our aim to bring together a balanced mix of expertise, perspective and organisations we won’t be able to accommodate everyone. 

    When deciding on who from your organisation should attend the event please consider:

    A maximum of 2-4 participants from your organisation

    Participants engaged or willing to engage in collaborative work, such as convenors of CANA working groups or key campaign collaborations

    Participants who can carry strategy and coordination forward after the event

    Financial Support

    Limited financial support is available to some attendees to reduce barriers to participation. Preference will be given to First Nations and Pacific Islander participants, unwaged participants and under-represented participants. Funds are available to cover ticket registration, travel and accommodation. Please refer to the financial support guidelines for further information, and apply for financial support here.

    A 50% discount code is available to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participants. Please use code FN50 when booking your ticket. If you are unwaged then you can apply for financial support to cover your full ticket cost.

    Accessibility

    We are committed to providing attendees with the support they need to ensure active and equitable participation in the CANA Annual Strategy Meeting. Spring Bay Mill is a fully accessible venue with shuttles available to transport people around the venue if required.

    There will be quiet rooms available for breastfeeding (including fridges for milk storage) or prayer if required. Please just let us know upon ticket purchase if you require these spaces.

    Children are welcome at the event and will receive catering as part of their parent’s ticket purchase. If there is interest and firm commitment from attendees we may offer a free onsite creche.

    Getting there

We will arrange bus transfers to and from Hobart airport, and our recommended hotels for those who need it. Please complete this bus transfer form by 18 September.
