DESCRIPTION:Why does our wildlife need our help?&#13\;\n&#13\;\nOur wildl
 ife populations face many dangers as their habitat decreases and they ar
 e forced to live closer to us. The biggest dangers are cats\, dogs\, car
 s\, poisons and loss of native habitat.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nWhen concerned me
 mbers of the public find wildlife that is sick\, injured or orphaned\, t
 hey look to vets and wildlife volunteers to step in and help. In a futur
 e of climate change\, wildlife carers and rescuers will be more importan
 t than ever.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nSave Our Wildlife Foundation Inc. (SOWFI) ha
 ve partnered with NSW Wildlife Information\, Rescue and Education Servic
 e Inc. (WIRES) to provide this this online Wildlife Rescue 101 course. F
 ollowing completion of the online component we would like you to come to
  a 2-hour practical application workshop and consider volunteering for S
 OWFI as a Wildlife Rescuer or as part of our Wildlife Ambulance crew.&#1
 3\;\n&#13\;\nWildlife 101 Practical Course Outline&#13\;\nAre you intere
 sted in becoming a wildlife volunteer?&#13\;\nWhat will you get out of i
 t?&#13\;\n&#13\;\n    Learn how to rescue sick\, injured or orphaned wil
 dlife&#13\;\n&#13\;\n    Help with research data collection&#13\;\n&#13\
 ;\n    Receive mentoring and further training&#13\;\n&#13\;\n    Work wi
 th like minded people&#13\;\n&#13\;\nTopics covered:&#13\;\n&#13\;\n    
 WHS risks involved in rescuing and transporting injured wildlife\, asses
 s injuries and contain the animal without inducing further stress or tra
 uma&#13\;\n&#13\;\n    How to confidently handle animals\, identify inju
 ries and disease as well as minimise stress&#13\;\n&#13\;\n    Key aspec
 ts of species identification and skills and techniques to accurately det
 ermine the species that has been rescued&#13\;\n&#13\;\nAssessments:&#13
 \;\n&#13\;\nEach module will have a range of quizzes to which the answer
 s can be found within the theory chapters. To be deemed competent in the
  online component of this course\, all quizzes must be completed. A tota
 l score of 75% must be achieved\, multiple attempts for the quizzes will
  be available. A Completion Certificate will be issued at the completion
  of the course via the online learning portal.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nAn email w
 ith you login details to the online learning portal will be sent to you 
 3-days prior to practical workshop. Ideally\, you will complete the onli
 ne component prior to attending the 2-hour practical.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nReq
 uirement of a volunteer wildlife rescuer:&#13\;\n&#13\;\n    A current d
 rivers licence and a car&#13\;\n&#13\;\n    Ability to commit your time 
 – includes leaf collection\, regular milk feed schedule\, cleaning enclo
 sures&#13\;\n&#13\;\n&#13\;\nThe costs for helping sick\, injured or orp
 haned wildlife include:&#13\;\n&#13\;\n    equipment such as lockable ba
 skets\, net\, thick gloves&#13\;\n&#13\;\n    petrol costs for going on 
 rescues and driving to collect leaf&#13\;\n&#13\;\n    a smartphone and 
 or a computer for data collection&#13\;\n&#13\;\n&#13\;\nIf this is not 
 for you but you still want to help we also need help with:&#13\;\n&#13\;
 \n    Volunteers to collect gum leaf for other carers&#13\;\n&#13\;\n   
  Fundraising&#13\;\n&#13\;\n    Writing for or monitoring social media&#
 13\;\n&#13\;\n    Grant writing&#13\;\n&#13\;\n    Approaching potential
