 #13\;\nBetween the two periods of Taliban rule (roughly 2001–2021)\, Afg
 hanistan saw a dense landscape of civil society initiatives around peace
 building\, women’s rights\, and gender equality\, led by Afghan NGOs\, i
 nformal community groups\, and international partners.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nAf
 ghans who fled after August 2021 have become key actors in keeping Afgha
 n peace\, social justice and gender equality struggles alive from exile\
 , combining direct support to people inside Afghanistan with advocacy\,
 movement-building and institution-building abroad.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nThis s
 ymposium\, organised by World BEYOND War Australia (the Australian chapt
 er of the international World BEYOND War movement)\, will explore a numb
 er of themes related to Afghans promoting peace and social justice in ne
 w lands. &#13\;\n&#13\;\nWe have three impressive keynote speakers: &#

 e for Peacebuilding at the University of Melbourne\, is an Afghan-Austra
 lian scholar of modern Afghan history\, peace studies and political theo
 ry whose current work focuses on the Afghan diaspora in Australia.&#13\;

 etch More\, a UK registered charity dedicated to empowering disabled ind
